This is a printable Distance Learning packet for TK or Kindergarten, WEEK NINE! In this file, you will find all of the work for one week of school, for TK, with some worksheets that will work for Kindergarten, for both Math and Language Arts subjects. We've included a variety of worksheets and activities, so feel free to use any or all of it with your students! (Please note: We've gone back to only one packet - for TK, instead of two packets for TK and Kindergarten. Heidi is only able to create packets for TK at this time! Thank you for your understanding!)
This week focuses on the letter G, number 7, and the sight word "my". There are four worksheets/activities for the letter G, along with fluency practice for letters A-G. We've also included a fun counting creatures worksheet for the number 7 and number writing 0-7 worksheet.!
Hands on activities include making a pattern block tower, making the word "my" with dot paint markers, and a fun measuring activity with cubes. There are also TWO pumpkin themed hands on activities: Five Little Pumpkins STEM Project and a Pumpkin Chunker (catapult) activity. Heidi uses craft sticks for these projects. Week 9 for Heidi is in October, and she's added some fun October themed art projects including a monster and a "creepy carrot". Check out Heidi's Creepy Carrots blog post for more info on this art project! Directions for how to make these crafts are included, along with photos of each completed project. Please note that this packet is appropriate for either TK or Kindergarten, but can be used in Kindergarten depending on your class needs.
In my (Heidi’s) experiences, children in TK generally need much more time to learn, and even more developmentally appropriate, hands-on activities than are necessary for most children in Kindergarten. A list of recommended HeidiSongs music videos for the week is also included, and it links to our HeidiSongs internet video site. However, a subscription to our internet video streaming site is not included. You are welcome to eliminate this page as needed
We've divided everything up by day of the week, (Monday-Friday) so you have the option of sending this entire packet to students, with everything labeled out on what to do each day! Permission is granted to distribute to families/students in your classroom. We've also included an editable Weekly Lesson Plan page, for those who may want to only include bits and pieces from our packet, or add in worksheets of their own.
You may notice that there are lots of hands-on activities for math included. However, on each of these “worksheets,” (which are more like parent handouts), I have stated on it that it is fine to substitute another type of toy or manipulative, such as Lego bricks, etc.
When I (Heidi) teach remotely this year, I plans to print out the packets and send them to families, divided by day of the week. Then I will give directions for each activity via Zoom or Google Meets, sing with the children using the music videos referenced, and have the children do the activities right there while I “watch” online and wait for questions. Children that finish early can “go play” or read a book at home until we are ready to proceed with the next activity. However, this packet would also work for families to just use them without video guidance from the teacher. It should work either way. I will be posting more ideas for distance learning on my blog.
